AGE - 1930's approx.

ORIGIN - Bukhara, Uzbekistan

COMPOSITION- Silk.

DESCRIPTION - This beautiful soft and light silk shawl is a 'Rumol' which is printed with wooden printing stamps called "Kalybs". The pattern consists of a symbolic sun, traditional almonds "bodom"- symbols of life and fertility. Colours are beautifully rich.

CONDITION - Excellent condition considering the age of the piece.

SIZE - Size is 1450mm x 1460mm (57 x 57 1/2 inches)

Abstract Vintage Southern-Indian Wooden Textile Printing Block

AGE - 1970's approx.

ORIGIN - Southern India.

COMPOSITION- Unknown wood.

DESCRIPTION - This wooden hand carved Southern-Indian print / batik block is carved from a single piece of wood, and depicts an abstract floral pattern. It would have been used to create the main decorative field on a fabric pattern. The surface of this block is stained a dark red colour reflective of the vegetable dye originally used which has left an attractive patina to the wood finish. Has a wooden handle on reverse side which helps it stand up. These items are effective simply displayed as they are.

CONDITION - Used and therefore stained from the dyes used as mentioned. Colour of wood is dark red.

SIZE - Size is 120mm H (at highest point) x 130mm L (at widest point) x 60mm D (including depth of handle)

COMPOSITION- Calabash wood.

DESCRIPTION - This is a new unused authentic Adinkra stamping block. The symbol of this stamp is the "sanlofa" which translates as, "Return and take it" - meaning that you can always undo your mistakes.

CONDITION - Excellent

SIZE - Size is 70mm wide x 80mm high x 85mm deep

ORIGIN - Southern India.

COMPOSITION- Unknown wood.

DESCRIPTION - This wooden hand carved Southern-Indian print / batik block is carved from a single piece of wood, and depicts an abstract pattern seeming to consist of positive and negative representations of household items such as pouring jugs and vases holding flowers. This block is stained a dark colour reflective of the vegetable dye originally used which leaves an attrictive patina to the wood finish. Has a wooden handle on reverse side which helps it stand up. These items are effective simply displayed as they are.

CONDITION - Used and therefore stained from the dyes used as mentioned. Colour of the wood is black.

SIZE - Size is approximately 110mm H (at highest point) x 130mm L (at widest point) x 70mm D (including depth of handle)
