AGE - New ORIGIN - Nurata, Uzbekistan. COMPOSITION-The foundation fabric is a silk-cotton blend fabric. Silk embroidery stitches. DESCRIPTION - The field of this very beautiful suzani is filled with gorgeous blossoms, stylized pomegranates and small images of mythological birds - truly a fairy tale piece. The embroidery consists of both chain and couching stitches. This would be a wonderful show piece in a simple frame, or hang as is. AGE - 1940's approx. ORIGIN - Samarkand, Uzbekistan. COMPOSITION- The foundation fabric is bright red cotton, with coloured cotton embroidered detail. DESCRIPTION - This suzani has a lovely 'folkish' feel to it. The field is filled with rows of stylized shrubs in cream, grey and blue-grey embroidery thread. There is an inner floral border embroidered in orange and pale orange coloured thread. A black border around the piece is hand sewn in bright pink, orange and soft lime green chain stitch. The reverse side of the suzani is off-white calico fabric. This suzani would make a powerful statement as a wall hanging in an interior with a neutral palette. AGE - New ORIGIN - Uzbekistan. COMPOSITION- Cream coloured backing fabric on reverse. Multicoloured silk embroidery thread. DESCRIPTION - This is a very pretty floral suzani with a cream coloured cotton foundation fabric. The field is composed of a cheerful combination of flowers, buds, interlocking vines and strawberries. Colours are soft reds, pink, blue, yellow and green. AGE - New ORIGIN - Bukhara, Uzbekistan. COMPOSITION- Off-white cotton foundation fabric with multicoloured silk embroidery detail. DESCRIPTION - The pattern of this gorgeous large suzani is composed of stylized thistles in bloom, with an inner and outer border of smaller embroidered blossoms. AGE - Recent. ORIGIN - Uzbekistan. COMPOSITION- Silk-cotton foundation fabric with multicoloured silk thread hand-embroidery. DESCRIPTION - A very intricately embroidered suzani. Large multicoloured medallion-like blossoms dominate this design. The blossoms appear to grow from a continuous undulating scroll that meanders across the entire field. Interestingly, there are images of small birds amongst the pattern. Beautiful composition. CONDITION - Excellent SIZE - Size is 2050mm x 635mm (80.5 x 25 inches) |
